How to Host the Ultimate Summer Games Party

Want to host the ultimate Summer Olympics party? We’ve got you covered. Here are a few tips to help you throw the most epic event.

1 – The ultimate party decor

Start with decorating. One of the simplest ways to wow is by adding balloons. For a more elegant look, go for gold, silver and bronze balloons, and for a more fun, lighthearted look go for the colors of the Olympic rings – black, blue, red, yellow and green . (Pro tip – Don’t forget to grab some balloon weights!) Flags, pennants, medals, and streamers are a great way to take your party from basic to better. You can even set up a photobooth; a pedestal, faux medals, and stick props are the perfect accessories. Don’t stop there – flag cocktail napkins and flag toothpicks are great to serve with appetizers.

2 – Get festive with food

While we’re on the subject of food, try to plan a mixed cuisine for the party. Foods like chips and salsa are always a good party staple, but if you want to get really creative, ask your guests to bring a taste of their favorite cuisines from around the world. Another way to spice up the party for adults is to have beer that represents different countries – Kirin Ichiban, Budweiser, Peroni, Red Stripe, Stella Artois, Guinness, and Corona are some fan favorites that you can usually find at your local grocery store. For a non-alcoholic alternative, try ordering some sodas from around the world.

We’re still not to “ultimate” yet though. So, how do you take your party to the next level?

3 – Get your game on

Have some games set up if you plan on hosting your party outside. Classic yard games like cornhole, horseshoes, and frisbee are always a solid party option, but you can up the ante with a little competition. Try some traditional Summer Olympic games like basketball, golf, diving, table tennis, badminton, and relays. Or, think outside of the box with your own games. No matter the age group, you’re bound to have fun.

4 – Set the mood

Lastly, it’s all about the ambiance! Don’t forget to have the games on! Set up a tv or a projector where you can enjoy the Opening Ceremony or the competitions as they happen. We’ve even set up a playlist to have rolling the whole night to keep your party lively!
